What's in the free FileCura app
FileCura ships with the Finder Productivity Pack — six Quick Actions, free for everyone:
- Category Tagging — apply saved category keywords to Finder Comments and Spotlight metadata.
- Single Tag Selector — pick a single tag from your saved categories and apply it.
- Text & Comment Tools — bulk filename editing (prefix, suffix, separators, find & replace) and Finder Comment edits.
- Smart Duplicate Scanner — flag likely duplicates by name, size, and extension.
- Spotlight Path Refresher — nudge Spotlight to re-index after bulk metadata changes.
- Clean Duplicate Comments — remove repeated lines from Finder Comments.
Plus the FileCura app itself: a Dashboard with health stats, a persistent local Categories store, a Quick Actions manager, an Automation Packs browser, and Settings with license import.
File Hygiene Pack — £9 add-on
Find clutter before deleting anything. Every workflow produces a review report; FileCura never auto-deletes.
- Duplicate Reports — SHA-256 cluster scan with a review report grouped by content hash.
- Old & Stale Files — surface files you haven't touched in months. Adjustable threshold.
- Large File Finder — rank files by size; adjustable size threshold.
- Downloads Tidy — review-and-execute plan for the Downloads folder.
Metadata Power Pack — £9 add-on
Deeper control over Finder metadata for power users who treat tags and comments like a database.
- Metadata Export — dump tags, label colours, and comments into a structured CSV.
- Metadata Import — apply a CSV back to your files in bulk.
- Tag Audit — report every tag in use, how often, and where.
- Comment Templates — reusable Finder Comment templates with multi-select.
System requirements
- macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Earlier versions are not formally supported.
- Apple silicon and Intel Macs supported.
- Roughly 30 MB of disk space for the app and bundled Quick Actions.
- For paid packs: a one-time purchase via Lemon Squeezy and an emailed
.filecuralicensefile.
Known limitations
- No automatic update channel yet — new builds are downloaded from filecura.com. Sparkle-based auto-update is planned for a near-term release.
- The current DMG uses a basic Finder layout. A branded DMG background is deferred to a future update.
- No localisation: the UI is English only.
